How does rent-to-own furniture work?
Here's the thing: you pick what you need, take it home today, and pay in small chunks—weekly, biweekly, monthly, whatever works. No massive upfront cost. No waiting.
And once you've made all your payments (or you decide to buy it out early), it's yours. Simple as that.
RENTown makes it easy. You're not stuck begging a bank or maxing out a credit card. You just get what you need, when you need it. -
Is rent-to-own the same as financing or a loan?
Nope. Not even close.
Financing means debt. Loans mean interest, credit checks, and a bunch of hoops to jump through. RENTown? It's a lease with an option to own. You're renting the item, and if you keep up with payments, you own it eventually.
No credit card required. No loan approval. No debt hanging over your head.
It's a completely different model. And honestly? For a lot of people, it's a better one. -
Do I need good credit to rent-to-own furniture or appliances?
No credit needed. Period.
RENTown doesn't run credit checks. We're not interested in what happened three years ago when life got messy. We care about right now—do you have income? Can you make the payments?
If yes, you're good to go. That's it. -
What happens if I miss a payment?
Life happens. We get it.
If you miss a payment, don't panic. Just call your RENTown store right away. Most of the time, we can work something out—grace periods, payment adjustments, whatever makes sense. And if you need to return the item? You can do that too. No penalty. No drama.
But here's the key: communicate. The worst thing you can do is ghost us. We want to help, but we can't if we don't know what's going on. -
Can I pay off my rent-to-own agreement early?
Absolutely. And you should if you can.
Most RENTown agreements include an early purchase option. Pay off the balance early, and you'll actually pay less than the full contract price. It's built in. So if you get a bonus, a tax refund, or just want to own it outright—go for it.
Why wait if you don't have to? -
How long does it take to own the merchandise?
Depends on your payment plan and the agreement you sign. Could be a few months. Could be up to 24 months.
But here's what matters: you're in control. You can speed it up by paying early, or you can stick to the schedule. Either way, you know exactly where you stand from day one.
No surprises. No fine print runaround. -
How fast will my furniture or appliances be delivered?
Same-day or next-day in most cases.
Look, we know you're not renting a couch because you love sitting on the floor. You need it now. So RENTown gets it to you fast—usually within 24 hours, depending on what you ordered and where you are.
And yeah, that's a thing. Speed matters when you're setting up a home or replacing something that just died. -
Is delivery and setup included?
Yep. Free delivery. Free setup. Done.
RENTown brings it to your door, sets it up, hauls away the boxes, and makes sure everything works. Some locations even offer free relocation if you move. (Because moving is stressful enough without worrying about your furniture.)
You don't lift a finger. That's the point. -
Are rent-to-own items new or used?
Both.
RENTown offers brand-new items and what we call "preleased" items—gently used, inspected, and discounted. If you want new, you got it. If you want to save some cash and don't mind preleased, that works too.
Either way, it's quality-checked before it gets to you. No junk. No surprises. -
What brands of furniture and appliances are available?
Name brands you actually recognize.
RENTown carries popular furniture, electronics, appliances, and mattresses from brands people trust. Selection varies by store, but we're not talking about no-name knockoffs here. We stock the stuff you'd buy if you were paying cash upfront.
Because you deserve quality, even if you're paying over time. -
What if my furniture or appliance breaks while I'm renting it?
Call us. We'll fix it or replace it. Free.
That's part of the deal with RENTown. While you're renting, we handle repairs and replacements. Something stops working? Not your problem. We take care of it.
And honestly, that peace of mind is worth a lot. You're not stuck with a broken fridge and a repair bill you didn't budget for. -
Do rent-to-own items come with a warranty?
Yes. Items are covered during the rental term, and many also come with manufacturer warranties on top of that.
So you're protected. If something goes wrong, you're not on your own. RENTown has your back, and so does the manufacturer in a lot of cases.
It's one less thing to worry about. -
Can I return my rent-to-own furniture or appliances anytime?
Anytime. No penalty. No questions.
That's the flexibility of RENTown. If your situation changes—you move, you don't need it anymore, whatever—you can return it. You won't owe future payments. You just bring it back and you're done.
Try doing that with a credit card purchase. (Spoiler: you can't.) -
Can I restart my rent-to-own agreement after returning an item?
Usually, yes.
Most RENTown stores offer a reinstatement period—often up to six months—where you can pick up where you left off on the same item or something comparable. Life got crazy and you had to return that couch? No problem. When things settle down, you can restart.
It's designed to work with real life, not against it. -
Is rent-to-own more expensive than buying upfront?
Yes. Let's be honest about that.
If you can afford to pay cash upfront, that's always going to be cheaper. But here's the thing: most people can't drop $2,000 on a living room set or a new washer and dryer. And even if they could, maybe they don't want to drain their savings for furniture.
RENTown costs more over time, but it gives you flexibility, no credit requirements, and the ability to return items if life changes. For a lot of people, that trade-off makes sense.
You're paying for options. And options have value. -
Why choose rent-to-own instead of using a credit card?
Because credit cards are debt. RENTown isn't.
With a credit card, you're borrowing money and paying interest. Miss a payment? Your credit score tanks. Can't pay it off? You're stuck with that debt for years.
RENTown gives you predictable payments, no interest charges, and no long-term financial obligation. If you need to return the item, you just do. No debt. No damage to your credit. No stress.
And trust me, that difference matters when life throws you a curveball. -
What if I move to a new address during my rental term?
JCall your RENTown store. We'll figure it out.
Many locations offer relocation services or can transfer your agreement to another store if you're moving out of the area. Moving is already a pain—we're not going to make it worse by forcing you to return everything or pay it all off.
We work with you. That's kind of our whole thing. -
Can I rent-to-own furniture online?
Yep. Browse online, apply online, and your local RENTown store handles delivery.
It's convenient if you want to shop from your couch (ironic, I know), but you still get the local service and support. Best of both worlds. -
Do I need to show proof of income to qualify?
Yes. RENTown needs to know you have steady income and can make the payments.
Usually that means a pay stub, bank statement, or something similar. Plus a valid ID. It's not a big deal—just standard stuff to make sure the agreement works for both of us.
No income verification, no approval. But if you've got income, you're probably good to go. -
Can I rent-to-own multiple items at once?
Absolutely. Depending on your income and approval, you can rent a whole living room set, a bedroom set, and appliances all under one agreement.
RENTown isn't going to make you choose between a couch and a fridge. If you need both and you qualify, you can get both.
Because furnishing a home isn't a one-item job. We get that.
